Part 1: Which Kind of Air Compressor to be chosen for Air Jet Looms

With the continuous development of modern textile technology, compressed air has been widely used. Compressed air in textile industry is used in pneumatic pressurization, pneumatic weft insertion, air jet twisting, pneumatic humidification, air flow conveying, air flow cleaning, pneumatic doffing, instrument automation and other links. The power source of air jet looms is compressed air as the weft insertion carrier, its consumption of compressed air is large, and the pressure and quality requirements of compressed air are particularly strict. Compressed air production process is a high energy consumption process, so the air compression system becomes a high energy consumption part in the textile industry, to choose the right air compressor is the best ways to saves money for each textile factory.

It is particularly important to ensure the normal progress of textile production and save energy costs by having a deep understanding of the requirements of the textile mill on the quality of compressed air, determining the air consumption at each air consumption point, correctly selecting the air compressor, and reasonably designing the compressed air station and compressed air pipe network. Elang air compressors are widely used in the air jet looms and draw texturing machine in textile industries. Hereby we will analyse by details of the best air compressors to be chosen for textile industry.

Requirements of Air jet Loom for Compressed Air Quality

Compressed air is the power carrier of weft insertion in air jet looms. In order to ensure the normal process of jet weft insertion and the fabric surface quality, the quality and pressure of compressed air must be strictly regulated.

  • Oil content in air.

The compressed air used for air jet weft insertion shall not contain oil or very little oil. If the compressed air contains a lot of oil, it will not only pollute the fabric, but also adhere to the nozzle and reed, affecting the jet force and increasing the resistance of weft insertion, making the weft insertion worse. Moreover, the oily air will pollute the air environment of the workshop and endanger worker's health. Therefore, the oil content in the compressed air must be strictly limited. Generally, the oil content is required to be<0.6mg/m3. This requirement is a Class 2 standard in the ISO 8573-1 air quality grade standard.

  • Air moisture content.

The compressed air without drying treatment contains a certain amount of water, and its content depends on the amount of water vapor in the wet air in the natural environment before being sucked into the compressor, which varies with regions, seasons and climatic conditions. If there is a large amount of water vapor in the wet air, the compressed air will precipitate water in the pipeline, so that the pipe wall will rust and adhere to dust, increasing the air transmission pressure loss; It will also pollute and rust the nozzle, reed and parts of the loom, and even affect the quality of the fabric. Therefore, the compressed air must be dried. Generally, the pressure dew point of compressed air is required to be 4~10 , that is to say, it reaches the level 4 standard of ISO 8573-1 air quality grade standard.

  • Air dust content.

The unclean air will accelerate the wear of the compressor, affect the service efficiency and life of the air jet loom, and pollute the cloth surface. Generally, the dust content of compressed air is required to be 1mg/m3, and the dust particle size is required to be 3-5 μ m. That is to say, it reaches the level 2 standard in the ISO 8573-1 air quality level standard.

  • Pressure requirements.

The compressor discharge pressure of compressed air for general air jet looms is determined as follows: compressed discharge pressure>loom initial pressure>loom weft insertion pressure.

The discharge pressure of the air compressor is related to the specifications of the air jet loom, the types of fabrics, the number of revolutions of the air jet loom and the starting mode. According to the air jet looms with different parameters, the centrifugal oil free compressor and oil lubricated low pressure screw air compressors with different pressures are selected to achieve more energy saving. Generally the low pressure screw air compressor is more widely chosen for purchasing costs lower. If you want to select a more suitable low pressure air compressor for your air jet looms, please contact Elang sales for the model selection. Moreover, for air jet looms, the air treatment system is required its low pressure screw compressor.
